Becoming a CPV

All CPVs are accredited by the Australian Property Institute. A number of entry requirements need to be satisfied to gain certification.

First, all CPVs have to undertake an approved undergraduate degree and/or post-graduate course or degree at an Australian university. Overseas applicants have their qualifications assessed by both NOOSR (National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition) and the API.

After academic courses have been completed, at least two years of approved professional experience is carried out in the field, after which time valuation reports are submitted to the API.

At the end of this period, CPVs need to successfully complete an Associate Membership (including CPV) Professional interview in order to gain CPV certification. After certification, CPVs undergo regular professional development courses through the API to keep up-to-date within the industry.
